NaBuP Bursary Competition Terms and Conditions
- NaBuP Bursary Competition is a nationwide bursary competition open only to the citizens of the Republic of South Africa:
- a. By Birth
- b. Or acquired citizenship
- NaBuP Bursary Competition is a nationwide bursary competition open to anyone who:
- a. Is in possession of a legally recognized South African matric certificate or equivalent, irrespective of how long they have had their matric certificate
- b. Is in school (Pre, Primary, or Secondary) and learning towards acquiring a legally recognized South African matric certificate or equivalent
- c. Is in a tertiary institution (University or College) and studying within the boundaries of the Republic of South Africa
- NaBuP Bursary Competition is only awarded to people who will be studying in tertiary institutions within the boundaries of South Africa.
- NaBuP Bursary Competition does not discriminate against results status, meaning whether you have distinctions or not, or university entrants or not, if you win, you will be given money to go to any tertiary institution of your choosing as long as they accept your registration.
- SMS cost only R1.50.
- You can send as many SMSs as you want.
- To enter the NaBuP Bursary Competition, you must SMS your NAME and ID NUMBER or DATE OF BIRTH to 49492.
- You can enter the NaBuP Bursary Competition ON BEHALF OF SOMEONE ELSE, but you must enter with their details, meaning, you must SMS their NAME and ID NUMBER or DATE OF BIRTH to 49492.
- NaBuP Bursary Competition runs from the first day of December to the last day of November, meaning, the NaBuP year for the Bursary competition always begins in December and ends in November.
- An entry sent from the first day of December will be considered for the succeeding year, e.g., when you enter the competition on 01 December 2024, your entry will be in a draw for December 2025. If you win, you will be eligible for the bursary in 2026.
- Winners will be announced on the NaBuP website (www.nabup.co.za) during the second week of December, meaning when you enter a bursary competition from the first day of December 2024 until the last day of November 2025, you will be in a draw for December 2025. If you win your bursary, you will be eligible for 2026 unless you are an ‘Inactive Bursary Beneficiary’ or you don’t wish to use your winnings immediately.
Key Issues That Requires Clarification Terms and Conditions
- Start and End: The competition runs annually from 01 December to 30 November but for this current competition it will start on 01 March 2025 and end on 30 November 2025 because we are behind on schedule.
- How will a winner be chosen? A winner will be chosen annually on the 1st working day of December and for this current competition the winner will be chosen on Monday, 01 December 2025. Our criteria for selecting a winner(s) is simply based on the highest number of SMS send. The people with the highest entries will be the winners.
- How will a winner be contacted? A winner will be contacted through the number used to enter the competition. The winner will also be listed on NaBuP website as soon as they are selected.
- How will a winner obtain their price? The price is strictly for education purpose so a winner will be funded for any career study of their choice as long as it does not exceed the winning price. Money will be paid directly into study institutions and related service provider’s bank accounts. Meaning no winner will be given money in hand unless it is for monthly allowance.

- How the shortcode works? An entrat shall SMS their FULL NAMES and ID NUMBER to 49492 (R1.50c/SMS) to stand a chance to win an all-inclusive non-refundable bursary up to the value of R500 000.00

- The service won’t be used by NationWide Service Provider to:
- Intentionally engage in illegal conduct
- Knowingly create, store or disseminate any illegal content
- Knowingly infringe copyright
- Knowingly infringe any intellectual property right, or
- Send spam or promote the sending of spam
- The terms and conditions of our services shall not contain clauses that shall contradict the requirements of the WASPA Code of Conducts.
- Our service shall only be used with the permission of the bill-payer.
- Our service shall only be used with the permission of a parent or guardian for children.
